JOINING REMOTELY

ESSENTIAL TECH

• A laptop or desktop computer*

• A recent version of Chrome or Firefox

• A mic and webcam

• A good internet connection (and if possible connect directly via ethernet cable)

• Headphones/ear buds must be plugged in for the duration of the show to eliminate echo. You can take them off while you perform, as long as they stay plugged in!

• NB: your headphones are not your monitors! You won’t be able to hear yourself through them.

*Due to limitations with audio settings, we do not support joining a broadcast with a mobile device at this stage.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BEST SOUND QUALITY

To get the best sound, we recommend using an external, high quality condenser mic with an interface. If you don’t have that type of equipment, your laptop mic is the next best option.

If you are using an external mic

• be careful with the levels as there is no limiter to check distortion

• use Channel 1 or 2 of your audio interface

PREPARATION

• If possible, connect your computer directly to your router/modem via ethernet cable. This will make the world of difference to the quality of your stream! If that’s not possible, set up as close to your router/modem as you can.

• Take a moment to think about your background. Get creative, add some colour using scarves, pictures, backgrounds, go nuts!

• Also consider your lighting, we want to be able to see you clearly

• If you haven’t yet joined us remotely you will be required to do a test run on the Friday prior to your show date. Please review Remote Test Run for all the info.

REMOTE TEST RUN

• We are using the same streaming platform as Radio Venice. If you haven’t already joined them remotely, you will be required to do a 20 minute test run prior to the show to check that your set up is compatible with our streaming platform.

• Test runs will be scheduled (TBC)

• Please review the Essential Tech above

The purpose of the test broadcast is to check your sound as well as your internet connection. It’s important that you are in the same location as you will be for the Field Trippin’ Fest broadcast! Treat it like a full dress rehearsal.
PLEASE BE FULLY SET UP AND READY TO PLAY MUSIC PRIOR TO JOINING!

When you join:

1. Click on Cam/Mic to open Settings

2. Click on Audio

3. Uncheck the “Echo cancellation” box and check the “Stereo audio” box

4. Click the X to close the Settings window

5. Enter your Display Name like this: Your Name – Your Location (this will be displayed publicly throughout the show)

6. Click Enter Broadcast Studio

ON THE DAY

SOUNDCHECK IN THE GREEN ROOM

• Soundcheck will be 45 mins prior to your set time (refer to the Performance Schedule below)

• Join the Green Room here: www.radiovenice.tv/ftfest

• We will join you in the Green Room as soon as the current artist starts playing

• Soundcheck will be a quick 5-10 minutes

• Check the Private Chat tab in Streamyard for comments/instructions from the host.

• 5 minutes prior to your set, join us in the live broadcast room
